As you may be aware, the Department of Public Health has been in the process of revising and amending the Illinois Water Well Construction Code and Water Well Pump Installation Contractor's License Act (77 Ill Adm Code 920, 36 Ill Reg 17308).  The changes primarily reflect advances in closed loop well construction and the addition of new tables that clarify setback requirements for closed loop wells, water wells and sources of contamination.  Most other changes have been made to technical terminology and reference material.   Businesses that install or service closed loop wells are affected.

It is the opinion of the IAGP Board of Directors that the amendments to the 920 Water Well Construction Code are in the interest of groundwater protection. However, we encourage all members to take some time and review the proposed changes for yourself.  If you would like to take a look at the code for yourself, it can be found in the December 14, 2012 Illinois Register edition or at http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/index/register/register_volume36_issue50.pdf.  The amendments to the code can be found on pages 123-181.  The changes are nearing the end of the rules process and the code amendments are currently open for public comment.  If you wish, you can comment on this web site until January 28, 2013.
